Teachers avert gun possession, burns Trump's gun measure comment with #ArmMeWith

Resisting President Donald Trump and other gun advocates' suggestion to arm “adept teachers” with guns, educators and teachers mainly from America rallied the #ArmMeWith movement in the wake of the Florida shooting to call for what they actually need to be “armed” with instead of firearms.

The viral hashtag started with Trump’s tweet a week after the Parkland, Florida shooting on February 14 in which a former student that has a history of mental problem shot 17 classmates and faculty and injured at least 12 with an AR-15 rifle.

It is then that two educators, Brittany Wheaton and Olivia Berkels started the advocacy of rejecting Trump’s suggestive tweet against arming teachers, and instead focus on sourcing out funds to help students with mental health issues using their Instagram accounts where it gathered support from teachers and made their own versions of the #ArmMeWith movement.

In less than two weeks, the hashtag garnered more than 10,000 individual posts on Instagram alone, pointing out recurring ideas such as additional health funds and stricter gun laws. But others managed to draw recognition on the essentials of a school by pointing out its effects on the common student.

But then, a few hours later however, POTUS Trump made another tweet after drawing ire from the hashtag.

Youth influencer Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 Big Winner Myrtle Sarrosa terrified the netizens in Facebook after sharing their fearsome encounter during their night travel in an isolated road in Samar leading to Tacloban last February 15.

In her official Facebook page, Myrtle shared their story.

"We were at Eastern Samar for the Sisterph School Advocacy Tour where we got stranded for two days because of the Signal #2 Typhoon. We had to wait it out till the evening where the rain had already stopped and the government had already cleared a bit of the road from the mud from the landslide for cars to cross," Myrtle narrated as she tried to paint the picture.

She then explained that they are in a far flung area. No street lamps and most of the area that they are crossing were uninhabited.

After depicting the setting, the PBB Teen Edition 4 Big Winner then started to unveil the core of her story.

"There was a child wearing a bluish white shirt probably around 10 years old in the middle of the road. He was in a crouching position with his arms and hands wrapping around his head to his face. We couldn't believe it kasi from out of nowhere bigla na lang may bata tapos wala namang baranggay or houses at all in the area. It wasn't normal. Napasigaw kami cause not just I, but most of us in the car saw him."

The ABS-CBN actress and current Ginebras calendar girl Sarrosa mentioned that they decided to check the dash camera to see if there was really a child only to find out that the white blob-like orb figure disappeared after a few seconds.

"Our volunteer driver Sir Long was telling us that It happens a lot to travellers where they see spirits that have passed away during Yolanda while our staff there just told us that the area we crossed was possibly around the Brgy Omawas, Maydolong, E. Samar where a lot of weird things can be seen according sa mga matatanda," Sarrosa ended.

An upgrade for an afternoon snack

An upgrade for an afternoon snack
By: Joseph Andre Gaspar

Every Filipino pretty much know about Lucky Me! Pancit canton. Some quote it as the “national miryenda” by people who are in a tight budget when it comes in satisfying their cravings.

Ingredients are as simple as soy sauce, salt, spices like onion and garlic, a handful of preservatives, artificial flavors that can make water taste like chicken and top it off with some flavor enhancer that is so high in MSG it can shorten your life span by tenfold.

Usually prepared by boiling the noodles for about 5 minutes and mix in the provided seasoning and violà, you’re beautiful masterpiece is right in front of you. The smell of artificial flavoring and the mouthwatering color of caramel of the noodles is now ready to serve.

But wait, hold your horses because on the other side of the book there goes a random newsflash, coming from the deepest part of the internet, specifically in twitter. Apparently the “national miryenda” is now packaged in a cup. Yes, you read that right, in a CUP.

There’s a tweet showing the product packaged in a cup, probably just the same size as the one we currently know which is in the plastic packaging. Same color for each flavor and some said that it is now easier to prepare. That is one thing that I don’t know but only time will tell.

Some comments say it is a very weird kind of upgrade to the product and also somewhat exciting to actually try eating it in a cup.

It’s funny when you think about it, the company is like, “Hey, we better think of something incredible that the customers will blow their minds,” and then one guy says, “I know! Let’s put ‘em in a cup,” and then everyone in the room became silent because of how amazing that idea was.

All in all, I think it has shaken the internet in Philippines just by a teeny, tiny, little bit because of the shock that it caused to the Filipino people that were used in having them prepared in a same, repeated way.

For some reason this kind of small change can actually contribute to something so big like the internet or even the way the people thinks of the simple things or even their perspective to the minority. But hey, nothing beats an afternoon snack like this one, right?
